Lucknow Advances to Phase 2 of the Green Corridor Initiative

The goal of the green corridor initiative’s second phase is to improve communication between Lucknow’s western and central regions, with a focus on neighborhoods like Gomtinagar, Hazratganj, Kaiserbagh and Nishatganj. A 1.7 kilometer four-lane road that will avoid the ASI-protected Residency area and converge close to the Mankameshwar temple is being built as part of this phase. A new concrete bridge across the Gomti River is also being planned in order to improve traffic flow along this route.

The green corridor’s expansion is anticipated to help about a lakh residents by reducing traffic on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and enabling a quicker journey from IIM to Daliganj by avoiding densely populated areas like Dubagga, Balaganj, Tehseenganj and Hussainabad.

With a total expenditure of Rs 7,500 crore divided into four stages, Phase 1 of the project is already finished, while Phase 2 is presently in progress. Phase 3 would see the corridor extended from Pipraghat to Shaheed Path, while Phase 4 would see it extended even further from Shaheed Path to Kisan Path, thus improving connectivity and bolstering Lucknow’s ambitions for urban expansion.

The green corridor initiative promises improved economic opportunities and a higher standard of living for Lucknow’s citizens, while also highlighting the city’s dedication to sustainable urban development. Stakeholders anticipate considerable socio-economic advantages from enhanced transportation networks and reduced environmental impact as infrastructure investments continue to transform the city’s landscape.

“An allocation of Rs 200 crore has been made and the project team has set up makeshift offices, a soil testing lab and a storage unit equipped with heavy machinery. To guarantee suitable building procedures, preliminary soil testing has been finished,” according to AK Senger, project director of the Lucknow Development Authority.
